So we come here
by Varsha Senthil

which is technically on a coast
but let’s be fucking real it’s a far
cry from Kanyakumari----even the names,
“Point Pleasant,” “Brick Beach”
don’t bother overselling it.
Nothing in central Jersey has added
to the religious canon or inspired anything–-much less poetry–-
worthy of a 100 ft. seaside
statue and tourist attraction.
But Nagercoil my love
you do not have a single sunset or rise
through bare spindly trees. Nor
do you have a hall full of Indians in Westgate

listening to "Freedom from Stress" from this here

Guruji and a hasty chant of Om Poornamadha

Poornamidham Poornath...shanti, shantih, etc.
In you I wake up
to roosters or recordings from
the temple speakers but Nagercoil
have you ever heard
the echo of Darshan singing “Skinna-marinky-dinky-
dink Skinna
marinky-doo...?”
