Good Bones
by Tracy R. Walker

Old, weathered home that shields and protects.
Your paint is peeling, your foundation is cracked.
Your windows are thin, leaky roof my friend.
Yet you stand tall as if there is no end.
Tender loving care is all you need.
Old bones are good if they would stop to
see. Charming with your original flooring,
spit-shined to perfection reigning in glory. But all
around they are tearing you down. Our rich history
bulldozed right to the ground. To make way for a
new project, some bright idea. Preserve our history
and leave it as it is! I see you old home and I know
your worth. Your good bones are forever sprinkled
over the earth.
